"A portrait of my daughters once a week, every week in 2016"

Lottie and Róisín; Annnnnnnd ... we're back! After a HUGE hiatus and some much needed offline time while travelling to America for 5 weeks and then settling back into home life in Aus. This pic pretty much sums up what we've been up to. Hanging out, cracking ourselves up and getting used to our now one year olds immediate transformation from a sweet little babe to a roaring toddler wild child. (Hopefully) This week will be an updated post of our missed 52's and all the adventures and places the weeks have taken us!

"A portrait of my daughters, once a week, every week in 2016"

Lottie: Ginger Princess, theres never a dull day in your presence.

Róisín: Play school. Today is your very first day at occasional care. you are spending 4 hours playing and interacting and being well looked after while your mama gets some work done and your sister is at kinder. Your milestones have seemed to skyrocket - you walked at 10 months, you've almost got a full set of front teeth, when asked where your little nose is you can point to it and say "Dere!" and you chat away on the telephone to your grandmothers in a string of goos and gaas, always beckoning for the phone when Im on it. 3 weeks til your first birthday and you seem so grown already. Slow down baby doll, theres plenty of time for that!

Róisín: Always testing gravity. Any time you make it up high you must drop things and watch them fall, you head to every edge making me a nervous wreck and when you are asleep in our bed at night you creep to the edges making me sleep with one eye open. Under your sweetness a daredevil lies.

Lottie: Wild one, you are your sisters protector. Laughing as she tests fate and you are there to save her. May that always be the case.

Lottie: Looking very much the fournager here in your hoodie and chatting away in the (never-ending!!) rain.
Róisín: Daddy's girl. We are all head over heels for your Dada but you little lady love nothing more than a snuggle up with your main man and spend most nights koala-ed up on his chest, snoozing away peacefully, wrapped in love. What a beautiful start to life. xo

Oh, Wild Child...

They say we're raising revolutionaries. The children that go hard, play hard, love hard and never stop - not even for a breath - but just push on, leaving their mothers breathless and exhausted in their wake. I remember the day we started our first playgroup, you were 9 months old, a month older than your little sister now, and all the little squishy babes were crawling around playing, interacting, gooing and gahing. A little boy approached and grabbed the toy you were playing with, you immediately took it back, giving him a warning stare and then turned smiling and got back to your baby games. All the mamas were shocked - and amused - and I just laughed because I knew in that moment I would have so many things to worry about in the future, but you backing down would not be one. I've never met one with so much fire, you grew in my belly under the red sky of the Outback and then came into this world like a wild bansee - not shedding a tear - with a head full of ginger locks and a cheeky smile embedded in your bright blue eyes. Lately with another chapter of change in our midst and, like little ones tend to do, you are acting out and leaving my bones aching with tiredness at the end of the day. I try breathing, ignoring, taking a time out but you smell my coping techniques from a mile away and push, push, push with a twinkle and leaving us both with our heads spinning as to how a couple of minutes ago we were cuddling and laughing and now ... well, we aren't. A new home awaits, a new adventure is in the works and both will allow us space to grow, areas to retreat to and hopefully there we will shift out of this groove and find our peace.
Until then I breathe (and hope with arms open for the hugs of the mischievous :))
